Using different types to take over from one another, it is possible to have a seamless, successional display of tulips from late March right up until the beginning of June. This collection brings together a well-matched, cool-hued trio which, between them can be expected to bloom from late April and throughout May. They continue the fresh blues and yellows of early spring and mix particularly well with the acid-yellow flowers of euphorbia and clouds of blue forget-me-nots. Tulipa 'Blue Lagoon' is an unusual, violet-blue Darwin Hybrid tulip, prized for its straight, tall stems (great for the vase). Tulipa 'Carre', a Triumph tulip, bears delicate, silvery purple flowers, and Tulipa 'City of Vancouver' is a Single Late variety which produces unusual, pale primrose-yellow blooms. Plant in fertile, well-draining soil in full sun. 'Blue Lagoon' and 'City of Vancouver' can be left in the ground, while 'Carre' will rebloom best given a dry, summer dormancy. To achieve this, lift and store bulbs once the foliage has died back, and replant in late autumn. All are hardy to between -15 C and -20 C
