Tell Me More...
When Pierre Magnol a seventeenth century French botanist brought the first Magnolias to Europe from Southern China, none had set eyes on such a wonderful flowering tree. In Southern China magnolias were grown to represent womanly beauty, gentleness, and were a key part in bridal bouquets. Should you desire beauty and gentleness in your garden, then Magnolia soulangeana will provide this for you. In mid to late Spring, Magnolia soulangeana produces rose-pink flowers over dark green leaves. The petal-laden flowers resemble chalices. It is a thing of beauty. An important and key point to know is this is magnolia remains a shrub for many years and then only grows into a small tree. Even if you do not have a large garden, this would be ideal for you.
