Tell Me More...
A fantastically exciting new variety of the much-loved magnolia shrub. Magnolia laevifolia 'Vanilla Pearls' is a dwarf variety of this spring flowering shrub which is perfect for smaller gardens and containers as it reaches a height and spread of 70cm. The perfect size for a focal pot, low-growing hedge or perfumed spectacular near a patio, doorway or seating area. The waxy, evergreen leaves add depth and intensity to the creamy white, heavily perfumed flowers which, as the name suggests, have a sweet, vanilla-like scent. Flowers are held from March to April, sometimes with a second flush in summer if conditions are favourable. The interiors of these large blooms have buttery yellow stamen and flowers are a great enticement for bees and other pollinators.Magnolia laevifolia 'Vanilla Pearls' prefers to be planted in moist, well-drained soil in a site in full sun or part shade. A hardy dwarf shrub which likes a neutral to mildly acidic growing medium.
