Tell Me More...
An exciting new generation of lupin, which is a little smaller in stature yet equally floriferous as its taller cousins. Lupinus polyphyllus ‘Legendary Blue Shades’ offers charismatic tones of blue, purple and violet in captivating towers of pea-shaped blooms during June and July each year. Flowers are held above blue-green palmate leaves which emerge in March and remain until October – adding gap-filling interest in their own right. Plant in the mid-tier of an herbaceous border, at the edge of a path or in a curated container where these abundant blooms and verdant leaves will mature to a height of 80cm and spread of 60cm. Lupinus polyphyllus ‘Legendary Blue Shades’ prefers a spot in fertile, moist, well-drained soil which is loam or sand based with an acid or neutral pH. Position in full sun to partial shade with any aspect other than north facing. A hardy, herbaceous perennial which should not require additional winter protection in most of the UK.
