Seismic shift to intriguing purple and white bicolouration
Lobelia ‘Great Rift – Purple’ produces heavily branched, mound-forming plants which bloom from early summer right through to early autumn. The bold, purple flowers are shattered by fresh, white variegation so that each flower is uniquely marked with eye-catching patterns. Plants have a 20cm semi-trailing habit and grow to form generous cascades of flowers so unusual they are sure to draw in curious eyes to investigate further. Lobelia ‘Great Rift Purple’ is a great way to attract pollinators into the garden, with open flowers which are easily accessible and enchantingly have a pair of bright yellow spots – like ‘beacons’ - at their centre to act as guidance for busy butterflies and bees.
Lobelia ‘Great Rift Purple’ likes a well-drained soil of any type in either full sun or partial shade. A half-hardy annual which reaches a height and spread of 30cm and will fade with the onset of colder weather so should be composted down
