Tell Me More...
Perhaps the showiest of all lily turfs, Liriope muscari 'Royal Purple' sends up masses of tall flower spikes, each densely packed with small, round, violet-mauve flowers from August to November. Foliage is arching, grass-like and dark green - forming neat, ground-covering clumps. Liriope is one of those rare finds - a shade loving plant which is drought tolerant, making it perfect for underplanting trees and shrubs as well as a useful source of autumn colour. Flowers develop into purple-black berries which provide extended interest well into the winter months. Ideal for the front of a border, container display or for lining the edge of a path. Particularly effective when planted in naturalistic drifts.Liriope muscari 'Royal Purple' prefers light, moderately fertile, preferably acid soil which is moist, well-drained and benefits from partial to full shade. Ensure plants are sheltered from cold, drying winds to see best results. A hardy, evergreen perennial which reaches a height of 30cm and spread of 50cm.
