A generous, robust and clump-forming beauty with feathery foliage which is held from March to November. Liatris spicata ‘Floristan Violett’ traces its origins back to Eastern America – where it thrives on prairies to form carpets of intense and uplifting colour. In the UK it produces dense spikes of intense mauve pink blooms from July to September which are held, wand like, over elongated strap shaped foliage at the base of each stem. A fantastic way to add height and movement, these beauties are also known by the common name Gay Feather. Plants are exceptionally good at drawing in bees, butterflies and other pollinators to your garden; alongside, of course, many admiring glances. Liatris spicata ‘Floristan Violett’ likes a spot with well-drained soil of any kind. Position in full sun with a south facing aspect for best results. A fully hardy, herbaceous perennial which reaches a maximum of 90cm tall and will spread to 50cm.
