A long-standing and much admired perennial which, thanks to an American horticulturalist, have been around since 1890. Their common name is drawn from the colour of snow on Mount Shasta in California – which is comparable with the purity of petals on the enduring flowers of Leucanthemum x superbum ‘Silver Princess’. Blooms emerge in June and, if faithfully deadheaded, continue flowering right through to September above dark green, toothed foliage.
Leucanthemum x superbum ‘Silver Princess’ is more compact than many varieties – reaching a height and spread of 45cm – as such it is more resistant to wind and rain than others. Its size makes it perfect for a strategically placed container or a sunny spot at the front of a border where this pollinator friendly, joyous bloom can shine forth.
Plant in well-drained soil of any kind which enjoys either full sun or partial shade and any aspect other than north-facing. Once established ‘Silver Princess’ is drought tolerant, and stems can be cut
