Tell Me More...
A sensational new arrival for 2024 in which, as the name suggests, has strong upright stems of flowers from May to August in darker, regal shades of purple. We love Lavandula stoechas ‘Javelin Forte Deep Purple’ for the pretty, tufts of colour held at the tip of the flowers and the beautiful, neat mounds of evergreen, silvery foliage held beneath and, of course, the wonderful fragrance which emanates from both the flowers and the foliage. Originating from the Mediterranean, where they grow wild in the hot dry conditions, lavender have been long known for their therapeutic qualities. The oil has been used for centuries in cosmetics and fragrances, and medicinally too because of the antiseptic and anti-inflammatory benefits. Lavandula stoechas ‘Javelin Forte Deep Purple’ prefers to be grown in well-drained soil with a sunny aspect which is not north-facing. Hardy in most of the UK, with an RHS hardiness rating of H4, some frost protection may be required if the temperature drops below
