Tell Me More...
A simply stunning new variety of lavender with beautiful purple stems borne from June to October above striking, variegated leaves. Lavandula angustifolia Walbertons Silver Edge is an evergreen shrub with pronounced creamy-white edges to its broad, linear, aromatic leaves - perfect for edging a pathway or border to create dramatic a dramatic, bicolour statement even when not in flower. These plants love a spot which offers them full sun and well-drained soil so are equally well adapted to rockeries, dry gardens, slopes and containers too. Flowers make a beautiful inclusion in both fresh and dried arrangements and can be utilised to make scent bags, pot pourri, soaps, candles and oils. In recent times, lavender has also become popular as a herb for cooking - making frequent appearances in biscuits, cakes and even savoury dishes. Lavandula angustifolia Walbertons Silver Edge is a hardy shrub which can withstand temperatures as low as -10 C as long as it is not sitting in wet soil. Trim plants back after flowering each year to prevent them from becoming too leggy and to retain their mound like form, remembering not to cut into old wood as lavender will not regenerate from here.
