Tell Me More...
Lamiastrum galeobdolon 'Variegatum' is a European native wildflower with an extra sprinkle of pizzaz in the form of variegated, silvery spotted leaves to bring a sprinkle of magic to shady parts of the garden. Flowers emerge from May into June and, on close inspection, have the air of an exotic, deeply hooded orchid about them. Flowers are held in clusters around strong yet graceful stems with a candelabra style elegance to them. Excellent as weed-suppressing groundcover, foliage emerges in March and is retained right through to November time. Even better, these beautiful blooms will readily naturalise under trees, shrubs and at the edges of wooded areas. Also known as the Yellow Archangel or Deadnettle, Lamiastrum galeobdolon 'Variegatum' prefers moist, well-drained soil in partial sun or full shade with any aspect other than south facing. A fully hardy, herbaceous perennial which reaches up to 30cm tall and spreads up to 60cm. An unusual inclusion in your garden which is sure to attract positive comments, as well as pulling in pollinators and other wildlife.
