Dazzle by name and dazzle by nature, the blooms of this colourful shrub bring revitalising hues to the garden from June to September. Lagerstroemia indica 'Berry Dazzle' also offers richly coloured, glossy foliage from March through to November with a neat, compact habit that further enhances the hot pink flowers above. Developed for improved hardiness, this variety tolerates temperatures down to -15 C, so can be grown in the ground throughout most of the UK. That said, plants will happily live in a container too, and readily adapt to rockeries or gravel gardens as they are drought tolerant once established as they originate from Asia. The enduring blooms of 'Berry Dazzle' closely resemble crepe paper - hence the common name Crape Myrtle. Not only do the flowers put on a show, the foliage also wants its moment in the spotlight and will change from burgundy, to red, to dark green and then crescendo in fiery hues of orange and red before falling for the winter. Plant Lagerstroemia indica 'Berry Dazzle' in well-drained soil with a south or west facing aspect in full sun for the best results. A hardy, deciduous shrub with a height and spread of 1.2 metres.
