We can think of few plants with a more intoxicating scent than jasmine, though are aware that choosing from this vast genus of over 200 species can be somewhat overwhelming. Enter our Jasminum Clotted Cream Collection, in which we bring together three hardy, climbing, woody varieties, well suited to being grown outdoors in the UK climate. Jasminum officinale 'Clotted Cream' is deciduous, and bears large, cream-coloured flowers, said to have a slightly stronger fragrance than the straight species. Jasminum beesianum (known as the Red Jasmine), has deep, pinkish-red flowers, and a semi-evergreen habit (becoming more deciduous the colder the conditions). Jasminum x stephanense is a natural hybrid of officinale and beesianum, bringing together pink hues and exceptionally strong fragrance in one plant. Prefer fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Hardy to -15 C if grown in a sheltered position. Vigorous, woody climbers capable of covering walls, fences, arbours. Size can be restricted by growing in a container.
