Jasminum polyanthum, commonly known as ‘pink jasmine’, is a fast-growing, evergreen climber prized for its intensely fragrant, star-shaped flowers. Native to China and Myanmar, this vigorous vine is a favourite in gardens and conservatories, where it quickly covers trellises, fences, and pergolas with its twining stems and lush green foliage. In spring, clusters of pink buds open into delicate white blossoms, releasing a sweet, heady scent that perfumes the air. Its rapid growth and dense foliage make it an excellent choice for screening and softening structures, while its long flowering period adds seasonal interest. Thriving in full sun to partial shade, Jasminum polyanthum prefers well-drained soil and benefits from regular pruning to maintain shape and prevent excessive spread. Though relatively low maintenance, it will benefit from being cut back to the desired size. Whether grown as a houseplant, in a container, or outdoors in a sheltered spot, this romantic, highly scented, tender climber is a true delight in any setting.
