Tell Me More...
Jasminum laurifolium f nitidum is just heavenly as it spills gracefully over containers, or covers the ground with vine-like stems, this glorious, attractive, glossy groundcover will seductively scramble through shrubs filling any difficult gaps. Also known as Angel Wing Jasmine, the long, green, arching stems, are bejewelled with an abundance of purple buds, from which large, delicate, star-shaped flowers with finely cut petals appear, retaining the red-purple shades in the sepals. Flowering all summer, they create sweetly fragrant clouds of scent for you to enjoy in your garden all summer. Native to the Himalayan area in SE Asia this attractive, spreading, shrubby evergreen has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. In our opinion, the perfect evergreen to grow between shrubs or cascade from a container, Jasminum laurifolium prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade, reaching a height of approximately 5m, it is a half-hardy perennial that may require winter protection during the coldest periods in the coldest areas.
