Tiny magenta flowers with a rich burgundy centre and tiny yellow eye smother Jamesbrittenia ‘Burgundy Eye’ all summer, filling your containers with colour. Plant at the edge of your pots, hanging baskets, or window-boxes where trailing, flowering stems up to 20cm long will cascade over the edges. H&S: 30cm x 60cm. Known as South African Phlox from the country it originates, Jamesbrittenia is a frost tender plant, usually grown as an annual in cooler climates. Plant with companions like Nemesia, Verbena, or Lobelia, or interesting foliage such as Ipomoea to create containers spilling over with colour and texture. Jamesbrittenia ‘Burgundy Eye’ grows best in well-drained soil in full sun or part shade. A handful of slow-release fertiliser at the time of planting should be sufficient to feed plants throughout the season. Water well especially during hot weather to keep plants fresh and hydrated.
