The fine, delicate texture of both the flowers and the evergreen leaves bring a calming, gentle impact to the garden in hanging baskets, pots or rockeries. Also ideal as weed suppressing groundcover in the border. Isotoma axillaris ‘Gemini Blue’ grows into gently cascading mound with a height and spread of 30cm. Plants bear open, powdery blue, starry flowers from May through to October time. Alongside six months of blooms - an extra, sensual element is given by its sweet, subtle perfume as it drifts across the garden and entices in bees and butterflies. Native to Australia, these perennials love the sunshine so make sure you plant them where they receive plenty, in any aspect except north facing. Isotoma axillaris ‘Gemini Blue’ also likes moist, well-drained soil so heavy clay is best avoided. A half-hardy, evergreen perennials which is often grown as an annual in the UK, plants can be overwintered away from heavy frost and reinvigorated the following spring.
