Tell Me More...
Iris reticulata Pixie is an award-winning Winter Flowering Iris, a sport of the well-known Harmony. Bold, violet-blue blooms are intricately marked with white and golden-yellow markings on each fall and nestle amongst slender grey-green leaves which do not distract from the flower. The delicate-looking, orchid-like, flowers are tougher and hardier than they look. Excellent as cut flowers for your home, so they can be admired at a closer distance. For generations artists have striven to portray the sheer beauty of Iris on canvas and nowadays photographers have taken up this quest. However, nothing will match the beauty of an Iris you have grown yourself in your garden. Iris reticulata Pixie has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. Originating from the cold and dry mountainous areas of Turkey, Iraq and Russia, Iris reticulata Pixie is fully hardy, even pushing their way through a covering of snow. Happily naturalising if left undisturbed, Pixie will grow to a height of approximately 10cm, and will thrive in poor, well-drained soil in sun.
