Tell Me More...
Exquisitely beautiful with a delicious fragrance, Iris George will be one of the earliest and most welcome signs of spring in your garden.Iris was the Greek goddess of the rainbow and a messenger of the gods. These brightly coloured little blooms in vibrant shades of violet with yellow splashes will certainly relay the news, "Spring is here!"A classic reticulata variety, Iris George will grow to a dainty 15cm, making them perfect for table-top spring pots, or rockery gardens where their beauty and perfume can be enjoyed more closely. Plant your bulbs in September to October, 10cm deep in moist well-drained soil. Add plenty of drainage to the planting hole and a layer of grit on top to protect the newly emerging shoots from hungry slugs and snails.Iris George prefer a sheltered spot in partial shade where their delicate flowers will last longest.Brilliant planted as the final layer in a spring bulb lasagne where the small flowers, 8cm across, will form the early flowering lower storey.
