Tell Me More...
A new, exciting and eye-catching iris with inky blue-purple falls (downward petals) and icy blue standards (upward petals) which are sure to catch your eye. Often partially hidden amongst the exuberant, ruffled petals is a golden yellow 'beard' or signal, surrounded by intricately marked veins for further intrigue. Iris germanica 'World Premier' is an opulent looking flower which is produced in multiples on long strong stems during May and June. Equally at home in the garden or as a cut flower for a vase or bouquet. Foliage is grey green in colour and emerges in fan shaped clumps from the rhizomes which should be planted to partially emerge from the soil as they love to be baked in the sun - producing bigger and better blooms each year as a result. Leaves last from March through to October, adding sculptural appeal once flowers have faded. Iris germanica 'World Premier' prefers to be planted in well-drained soil which benefits from full sun. A fully hardy, herbaceous perennial which reaches a statuesque height of up to 1.2m, with a spread of 50cm.
