Gorgeous red-burgundy foliage with a slight sheen smothers Ipomoea 'Solar Power Red Heart' from late spring and well into autumn. Perfect for adding depth and texture to borders and summer containers. Plant to spill over edges and soften hard lines with ornamental, heart-shaped leaves.A relative of the Sweet Potato from south-east Asia, Ipomoea is grown for its decorative foliage, rather than the tuber it produces underground. Although, if you grow this variety as an annual you may be lucky enough to find a cache of sweet potatoes underneath the soil at the end of the season.Ipomoea 'Solar Power Red Heart' is heat tolerant, thriving in full sun or part shade and growing to a height of 30cm with a spread of up to 90cm. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil and feed once a month to keep foliage healthy. Ensure potted plants are kept well-watered during hot or dry spells. As a tender perennial, Ipomoea 'Solar Power Red Heart' is usually grown as an annual but tubers may be lifted and overwintered in a frost-free place for replanting next year.
