Tell Me More...
With the triple advantage of delightful berries, blooms, and foliage, charismatic Hypericum 'Magical Lightening' will bring multi-seasonal, long-lasting interest to your garden and your home. Ever popular with florists, Hypericum makes an excellent cut stem which lasts well in the vase, bringing elegance to bouquets and arrangements. Semi-evergreen leaves provide a dramatic backdrop to the profusion of uplifting blooms which appear from June to July, acting as a magnet to pollinators. The luminous yellow flowers give this plant its name: 'Hyperion' was the Titan god of Heavenly Light, and father of Helios (also known as the Sun). Ornamental, glossy, colour-changing berries follow in the autumn, offering a buffet to birds and wildlife. This compact, rust-resistant variety reaches a height and spread of 90cm and is happy in both borders and containers. Hypericum will thrive in a sheltered position in part shade or full sun, planted in any moist, well-drained soil.
