Tell Me More...
Hydrangea paniculata ‘Vanille Fraise’ could not be summed up better than with the two words ‘vanilla’ and ‘strawberry’. The colour changing blooms are marvellous to watch as they transform from shades of pure white to strawberry pink as mid-summer moves to late autumn. This fine shrub will reach an eventual height and spread of up to 2.4m, spreading to 1.5m, and is best placed at the rear of a border where it will provide a wonderful backdrop to other plants. A sunny, sheltered spot is ideal for the colours to shine. Plant Hydrangea paniculata ‘Vanille Fraise’ in rich soil of any type except chalk. Ensure soil is moist and well-drained with a neutral to acid pH. The stems of Paniculata Hydrangeas can be pruned hard in spring as blooms are borne on fresh growth, they can also be cut during blooming for a fabulous inclusion in a vase. A hardy, deciduous shrub.
