Tell Me More...
Selected for its early flowering and unusual red stems, Hydrangea paniculata 'Early Sensation' is a choice, medium-sized shrub, perfect for mixed borders, containers, or as lower storey planting amongst deciduous trees. From early summer, large panicles of creamy white flowers burst into bloom, maturing to reddish pink as they mature. As new flowers emerge alongside older ones, a charming bicolour effect is created, constantly changing throughout the season. Foliage is a vibrant, bright green, contrasting nicely against deep red stems. Prefers neutral to acid soil, in dappled shade. Full sun will be tolerated if the soil does not dry out. As the name of this genus suggests, hydration is essential. As such, moist, well-draining soil is paramount. H&S: 1.5m x 1.5m. Hardy, deciduous shrub.
