Vigorous, grasslike foliage emerges in March and is retained through to November time for valuable, weed-suppressing groundcover in your borders or vertical interest in containers and rockeries. Throughout the summer and well into autumn Hesperantha coccinea ‘Sunrise’ bears warmly hued, open-faced flowers around 5cm across, with up to 10 flowers on each relaxed spike. Perfect as a cut flower for a vase inside your home or in a bouquet. Hesperantha coccinea ‘Sunrise’ is a dependable beauty which holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding performance in the garden. Native to wetter areas of Southern Africa, plants are also known as the River Lily (and were formerly called Schizostylis). Plant in moist, well-drained soil of any kind and provide with a south or west facing aspect in full sun.
