Hesperantha coccinea ‘Cindy Towe’, commonly known as the scarlet river lily, is a stunning clump-forming perennial renowned for its vibrant, star-shaped blooms. This cultivar showcases striking red-pink flowers with a delicate satin sheen, adding a burst of colour to the garden from late summer through autumn. The slender, upright stems and lush, narrow green leaves make it a graceful addition to borders or beside ponds and streams. Thriving in full sun and moist, well-drained soil, ‘Cindy Towe’ is a semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial which prefers a position where its roots remain consistently damp, though it can tolerate occasional dryness once established. Growing to a height of 60cm, it creates vertical interest and pairs beautifully with other late-flowering plants. Previously known as Schizostylis, Hesperantha are low-maintenance and hardy to around -10°C. Easy to care for, just divide clumps every few years to maintain vigour. A magnet for pollinators, this cultivar not only provides an extended season of colour but also supports bees, butterflies and other pollinators in your garden.
