Tell Me More...
A much admired variety direct from the nursery of acclaimed Dutch breeder, Peter Akerboom. Helleborus x hybridus ‘Pretty Ellen Spotted’ is far more than just pretty – this luscious Hellebore can only be regarded as a knock-out beauty! The wild artistry of Helleborus x hybridus ‘Pretty Ellen Spotted’ brings deep maroon speckles alongside a creamy bowl of generous petals, sometimes fringed with reddish-purple. Alongside this pronounced, pale stamens reach out inquisitively from the generous double flowers. Helleborus x hybridus ‘Pretty Ellen Spotted’ is resilient and clump-forming - thriving in dappled shade whilst happily naturalising to fill a sheltered area of your garden and steadfastly flowering from winter to spring. Excellent for adding to a vase inside your home, blooms also look wonderful as floating flowerheads in a bowl. Plant this pollinator friendly beauty in moist, humus-rich, well-drained areas of your garden which has any kind of soil except sand-based. Locate Helleborus x hybridus ‘Pretty Ellen Spotted’ in a semi-shaded spot where it will reach a mature height 35cm and spread of 35-50cm.
