When a new series of hellebores arrive, there is always excitement. This new variety from the ‘Frostkiss’ series is no exception. Helleborus x hybridus ‘Frostkiss Anna’s Red’ has large blooms which are a rich burgundy, sitting atop bottle green leaves. The first buds appear in January and the flowers continue through to April. This is a relative of the buttercup and the early season nectar is appreciated by the first pollinators. Hellebores prefer moist, fertile soils though are renowned for their robustness. Dappled shade is the optimum light for hellebores and as expected ‘Frostkiss Anna’s Red’ is as equally hardy as all varieties of hellebores. Maintenance is minimal, remove any dead material once the new foliage and flowers start to appear. Height and spread up to 60cm.
