Tell Me More...
A fully double hellebore with creamy white flowers. Helleborus x hybridus 'Double Ellen Picotee' is exceptionally delicate in appearance, owing to the deep purple-pink edging found on each individual petal. ('Picotee' is a name often given to flowers with a contrasting colour at the edge of their petals). This beautiful bloom offers a slightly more playful and frivolous take on the typically more muted elegance of hellebores. Helleborus x hybridus 'Double Ellen Picotee' is a fully hardy, semi-evergreen, clump forming plant, which loves a semi-shaded spot underneath a tree or shrub and thrives in moist, well-drained soil. Deer and rabbit resistant, it has an eventual height and spread of approximately 35cm. Cut back the large leaves of the previous year once new foliage and flowers start to appear. Hellebores provide a rich source of nectar for solitary bees, whose awakening from hibernation coincides neatly with the blooming of these winter flowers. We are not the only ones pleased to see them!
