Trailing tumults of silvery leaves
Also frequently referred to as the Everlasting Plant – helichrysum is easy-going and robust enough to withstand most situations within the summer garden. Yellow, daisy-like blooms are borne from June to August, though these are most frequently grown as a foliage plant.
Helichrysum petiolare ‘Moe’s Silver’ has silvery leaves with a tactile, soft surface to them. Growth is prolific and forms into an upright bush. Easily pruned to restrict its spreading habit or neaten its shape and excellent as cut foliage for bouquets and vases. Intriguingly, the plant has a mild fragrance similar to curry powder, hence the common name above.
Prefers a moist, well-drained soil and a south or west-facing aspect in full sun or partial shade. Plants are drought tolerant once established and can tolerate temperatures as low as -5°C if protected from strong winds. An evergreen, half-hardy perennial which has a height and spread of 50- 60cm.
