Tell Me More...
You may not recognise the Latin name Hedera, but you will certainly know the more common name of English Ivy. A delicately coloured variety, with light green leaves when young, broadly margined with bright yellow and as they mature the leaves becoming grey-green edged with pale yellow. A relatively compact variety, growing to a mature height of 2m with a spread of 1.5m, making Hedera helix 'Goldchild' perfect for a wall side border or for covering a shed. More versatile than some varieties, it is also ideal for covering a bank or a slope or as an addition to a pot or hanging basket. Just trim back as and when required.Hedera helix 'Goldchild' will thrive in any position, although it does prefer a sheltered aspect, in moist, well-drained soil. It does not require tying in and classed as hardy, with an RHS rating of H5 so no winter protection will be required in most areas of the UK.A worthy recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit for outstanding performance in the garden.
