Tell Me More...
Hebe Red Edge is a versatile perennial. The unusual, evergreen foliage, in shades of blue-grey-green, is delicately edged in red. During winter the red edge becomes more prominent offering much needed colour during the coldest months. In late summer and autumn, an abundance of short stems holds lilac-blue flower spikes, which fade to steely white as they mature; these blooms are sometimes produced further into the winter. Hebe Red Edge is a wonderful plant when used to create a colourful, low-growing, informal, evergreen, flowering hedge. Alternatively, plant in the front of borders where Red Edge will also look stunning in large containers. Hebe Red Edge has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden.Happy planted in coastal sites, Hebe Red Edge is drought tolerant, preferring to be grown in a sunny spot in well-drained soil. RHS hardiness rating of H4, around -10 C, this perennial needs no frost protection in most of the UK.
