You may have heard this exotic Hardenbergia referred to as the ‘Lilac Vine’ and sometimes as the ‘White Coral Pea’. Whatever you know it as, this Hardenbergia makes for a graceful climber with distinguished features closely resembling a miniature wisteria. However, unlike a wisteria, Hardenbergia violacea f. 'Alba' has evergreen foliage and a compact, robust, more vigorous habit. All of which make this plant not only more versatile, but also suitable for smaller gardens and better able to adapt with a variety of garden styles. Beautifully scented white flowers appear from March right through until July and sometimes longer, giving you up to 5 months of enjoyment and fragrance. Ideal for growing against walls, fences and other vertical structures where the stylish blooms enrobe and screen beautifully. Hardenbergia violacea f. 'Alba' reaches a mature height of 150-200cm, spreading to around 75-100cm. A native of Australia, where it is enchantingly known as the ‘Happy Wanderer’, your Hardenbergia has an RHS hardiness rating of H3 so will need some protection should temperatures drop below -5°C. Prefers to be planted in a neutral to acidic, well-draining soil which is loam or sand based. Position in full sun or partial shade with a south or east facing aspect.
