You may have heard this Hardenbergia referred to as the 'Lilac Vine' and sometimes as the 'White Coral Pea', and it makes for a graceful climber with distinguished features resembling a miniature wisteria. However, unlike a wisteria, Hardenbergia violacea f. 'Alba' has semi-evergreen foliage and a compact, robust, and quicker growing habit. Therefore, this plant is more versatile, suitable for smaller gardens and adapts better to a variety of garden styles. Beautifully scented white flowers appear from March right through until July and longer, giving you up to 5 months of enjoyment and fragrance. Ideal for growing against walls, fences, and other vertical structures where the stylish blooms will adorn the blank canvases beautifully. Hardenbergia violacea f. 'Alba' reaches a mature height of 150-200cm, spreading to around 75-100cm. A native of Australia with an RHS hardiness rating of H3, some protection will be required should temperatures drop below -5 C. Prefers to be planted in a neutral to acidic, well-draining soil of loam or sand in a position of full sun or partial shade.
