Geranium versicolor is a much-underused garden treasure, creating a semi-evergreen carpet of lobed foliage. Come the summer, this carpet is wrapped with white, funnel-shaped blooms, each with dark pink markings, explaining the common name of Pencilled Geranium. Full of pollen and nectar, our pollinating friends will visit the flowers to claim their bounty.Blooming through to the autumn in loose clusters, Geranium versicolor is tough and easy to grow and will create a classic layer for the front of borders, containers and in a rock garden; both low maintenance and undemanding.Geranium versicolor reaches a height and spread of approximately 45-60cm and is not fussy on soil conditions, although preferring to be grown in well-drained soil; in sun or part shade. As a fully hardy perennial it survives the coldest winters outside for years to come with no winter protection required.
