One of the darkest Cranesbill, Geranium phaeum 'Raven' creates an eye-catching display with an abundance of dark, royal purple blooms with white centres, the petals reflexing. Known commonly as Dusky Cranesbill, it provides valuable groundcover, this clump-forming perennial has handsome foliage, which may have purple-brown blotches in late spring and early summer, adding a hint of drama to borders and containers within your garden.The earliest to flower of all the hardy geraniums, those in the phaeum family send up tall stems, each adorned by several buds. Geranium phaeum 'Raven' is a hardy, relatively low-growing plant which is easy to care for and requires little maintenance. It prefers a sunny position in well-drained soil and will tolerate some shade. It is drought tolerant and will thrive in most soil types, reaching a height of up to 80cm, spreading up to 60cm, and is deer and rabbit resistant.
