This deciduous, fully-hardy perennial geranium was first introduced in 1994 and is well-know for its striking yellow-green Spring foliage as well as its violet-blue flowers which appear in June-August each year. Geranium Blue Sunrise is a low growing plant ideal for the front of the border and will grow to 30-45cm with a spread of up to 60cm. It is an ideal weed suppressant too and enjoys most soils (except waterlogged) if it gets sun for at least part of the day. The leaves are deeply cut and a revitalising lime yellow when they emerge. They then deepen to green during the summer and shift again to take on red tints when the climate cools in autumn. Flowers are a delicate violet-blue with deeper magenta-purple veins and, like the rest of the genus, Geranium Blue Sunrise is a durable, resilient and maintenance free plant that simply needs tidying at the end of the growing season- a stalwart for the busy gardener.
