Tell Me More...
One of the most versatile of the Geranium family, cantabrigiense varieties will grow equally well in moist or dry conditions, in either a sunny spot or in shade. Tidy mounds of semi-evergreen foliage stay through most winters, having given a wonderful display of autumnal shades and spread to form a carpet of weed-suppressing groundcover. The flowers, produced in abundance from late spring to midsummer, give the appearance of being delicate with long, prominent anthers. Following this initial flush, they will often continue to bloom sporadically well into autumn. Your collection comprises; 'Biokovo' - pretty as a picture, an abundance of the palest pink blooms; 'Karmina' - developed at Cambridge University in the 1970's, bubble-gum pink blooms; and 'Intense' - by name and nature, looking almost like fireworks, each stem is topped by a bright, vivid pink bloom. For best results grow Geranium cantabrigiense in full sun to partial shade, in moderately fertile, moist, well-draining soil. Reaching a height of 20-30cm and spreading up to 50cm, they are all hardy to between -15 C and -20 C.
