Tell Me More...
Gardenia jasminoides' Crown Jewel' is the impressive result of crossing the varieties 'Kleims Hardy' and 'Chuck Hayes', merging the qualities of each of these, into one plant, hardier than most gardenias and with a stronger more intoxicating scent. Native to China and Japan, Gardenia jasminoides' Crown Jewel' will bring an oriental aura to your garden with its crisp white, exotic, double, scented, star shaped blooms appearing from July until September, perfectly framed by evergreen, glossy green foliage. The nectar-rich flowers are a bee and pollinator magnet too.Perfect for planting in a sheltered border or container where the drift of its perfume can be fully appreciated. Excellent as cut flowers in a vase or bouquet, where the scent again can float through your home.Gardenia jasminoides 'Crown Jewels' prefers a site where it benefits from moist, neutral to acidic, well-drained soil in dappled sunshine. Plants may require further protection over winter as they are half-hardy, evergreen shrubs (dependent upon where you garden in the UK). Grows to an approximate height and spread of 1m.
