Tell Me More...
A less well-known and exciting group of roses which have a generous, spreading habit as well as scent, colour and an abundance of summer blooms. Often referred to as procumbent roses, this trio will offer ground cover which not only suppresses weeds, it allows blooms to tumble over raised beds and walls without the need for ladders to prune each year. Great for those of you seeking easy access.Gambolling Rosa Collection is made up of AGM holding Rosa 'Bonica' - a shrub rose which spreads and repeat flowers from July to October, flowers are followed by attractive, red hips, H: 1m S: 1.2m, Rosa 'Smarty' with open, simple blooms which repeat flower as abundant, open sprays from July to November, H&S: 1.2m; and AGM holding Rosa xanthina 'Canary Bird' - a wild, shrub variety which produces a single flush of slightly scented blooms in late spring, followed by maroon hips, H: 3.5m S: 2m. Plants prefer a spot in full sun or partial shade which benefits from moist, rich, well-drained soil. Fully hardy, deciduous shrubs, with the exception of 'Bonica' which is hardy.
