Galanthus nivalis f. pleniflorus 'Flore Pleno' is a joy to behold in the depths of winter, from January to March, when little else is flowering. Snowdrops mark the start of spring, causing a great stir amongst gardeners and loved by all. Look inside the nodding heads of these tiny, ruffled flowers and admire the intricate green and white markings on layer upon layer of petals. Galanthus nivalis f. pleniflorus 'Flore Pleno' produces attractive clumps of narrow, grey-green leaves with solitary, fragrant, double white flowers up to 20cm in height. Plant in sun or partial shade where they will happily naturalise, forming drifts. Often blooming long before the single-flowered varieties, these tiny fluffy beauties, will survive the starkest of winters, with no protection required. Given the Award of Garden Merit by the RHS for outstanding performance in the garden. Lovely as cut flowers in a small arrangement, a jar of these pretty little bells could never fail to raise a smile! Supplied ‘in the green’ means while they still have green leaf and are in growth, so they establish much quicker.
