Tell Me More...
You can have tall alliums for the back of the border, mid-sized alliums for mid-border and short alliums for front of border and containers. The Front Row Collection contains three alliums short of stature, big on impact and bright in colour. Allium karataviense 'Ivory Queen' has an ivory-cream colour, a garlicky scent (great for low flying pollinators) and flowerheads each the size of an orange. Allium stipitatum is hot pink in colour with perfectly rounded flowerheads. Allium oreophilum (oreophilum is Latin for Mountain Lover - this is one tough little allium) and makes a great addition to rockery gardens and planting in rifts. Being bulbous perennials, alliums are easy to grow, form bright spheres in the early summer and have a magnetic attraction to the first bumble bees and butterflies of the summer. Grow in borders and containers to create a bejewelled garden in May and June every year.
