Fragrant, floriferous and abundantly colourfulEnduringly popular as a cut flower, this Freesia Double Mix encapsulates everything we love about these trumpet-shaped, gently arched blooms. Freesias originate from South Africa and grow from bulb-like corms. This highly fragrant plant will happily thrive in borders or containers and can even be grown on a windowsill indoors to fill the house with delicious perfume. Furthermore, these exotic beauties have been especially heat treated to mimic the conditions in their native environment and prompt them to flower more quickly for you. Blooms are produced from June to August with foliage being held from April to October. As a tender perennial they will need protection from the winter cold - they are only tolerant of temperatures as low as 1 C. This makes freesias ideal for growing in pots as it eases their transportation to a warmer environment once there is risk of frost. With this little bit of extra care, you will find that bees and other pollinators love freesias as a source of sustenance whilst they are so pleasing on our senses that they are a garden 'must have' which are also great for the vase.
