Tell Me More...
Easy, disease resistant, and delicious The award-winning Fragaria ‘Pegasus’ produces medium to large, sweet, mild fruit with soft pink flesh. Its cropping period perfectly bridges the gap between mid and late season varieties; try growing with ‘Christine’ (early), ‘Cambridge Favourite’ (mid), and ‘Symphony’ (late) for a months-long successional harvest. Growing your own strawberries is something we cannot recommend highly enough. While shop bought varieties are chosen largely for their ability to store and travel well, home-growing presents a far wider range of options with flavour as the top criteria. You will never look back! Strawberries are suitable both for growing in the ground and in containers such as tubs, hanging baskets, and window boxes. Place straw under plants to discourage hungry slugs, who love these summer fruits almost as much as we do. For best results grow in a sunny, sheltered spot in moist, well-draining soil or compost.
