This is an exciting and adaptable new arrival for 2024. Suitable as a decorative plant for borders and containers with delicate, puffs of feathery foliage held from March to October adding misty wonder to your garden. In summer, flat topped, yellow flowers appear – drawing in bees and other pollinators for animated interest. Flowers are proceeded by seeds which are loved by birds and can be harvested for human consumption too. All parts of Foeniculum vulgare are edible – add leaves and flowers to salads, seeds can be nibbled or included in both savoury and sweet dishes whilst the bulb is perfect for soups or roasting. Be conservative in its use as all parts have a strong aniseed flavour which can dominate unless used sparingly – although it is delicious!
