An exciting, new variety- Fluttering Aquilegia 'Earlybird' has been bred to be compact. Its smaller than average size makes it ideal for patio spaces, balconies and containers, as well as the traditional planting in borders. Neat mounds of deeply cut, lacy foliage are borne from April to August, offering up to six months of beneficial and attractive, fern-like leaves. In May and June, the intriguingly shaped flowers emerge, also commonly known as Granny's Bonnet. Blooms have all the charm to match this quaint, traditional name - with long spurred flowers and deeply cupped, open centres which will delight you, your visitors and the garden pollinators too. Even better, the flowers last well in a vase too - so you can enjoy them inside your home.Collection comprises: 'Purple White'; 'Blue White'; and 'White' - carefully chosen to complement each other when planted 'en masse'. Plants will readily naturalise in the right conditions, however seedheads can be removed to prevent this.Fluttering Aquilegia 'Earlybird' Collection prefers a spot in moist, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or partial shade. Fully hardy, herbaceous perennials which reach a maximum height and spread of 30cm.
