Tell Me More...
Long-lasting, brightly coloured flowers open in succession along arching stems, the ‘Flaming Crocosmia Collection’ will inject life and vigour into your garden just as many other border perennials begin to wane. Clumps of green, strap-like foliage provide mesmerising movement as they gently sway in the seasonal breezes. Often referred to as Montbretia, Crocosmia originate from the grasslands of the Southern and Eastern African plains and are perfect for borders and containers, adapting to any planting scheme, whether a cottage garden, a cutting garden or prairie planting. Excellent as a cut vibrant addition to floral arrangements within your home, Crocosmia are drought tolerant and rabbit resistant. The ‘Flaming Crocosmia collection’ comprises; ‘Emberglow’ - arching spikes of deep orange red, funnel-shaped flowers with a golden yellow throat almost seem to glow from July to September, height 75cm, spread 20cm; ‘George Davison’ - rich amber-yellow, freesia-like flowers in August and September, shine like beacons, height 90cm, spread 30cm; and masoniorum – in August and September, large, upward facing, fiery orange--red blooms, height 90cm, spread 20cm. Crocosmia are robust and hardy bulbous perennials which prefer moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade. These statuesque plants will die back over winter to conserve energy and nutrients, then sprout again in the spring.
