Tell Me More...
We love the markings and colouration in the Flamboyant Fritillaria Collection - this trio is alluring, intriguing and extravagant in equal measures. The chequerboard effect of the Snakeshead Fritillary (meleagris and meleagris var. unicolor subvar. 'Alba'), alongside their open, bell-shaped flowers provide a marvellously exotic display each spring - little wonder they hold the RHS Award of Garden Merit for their beauty and reliability. Alongside this we have included another AGM holder - an exquisite Turkish beauty with unusual maroon and lime-green striped bells and a chartreuse heart. Fritillaria acmopetala will grace your garden from March to May and has the common name of Pointed-petal fritillary. All three of the Flamboyant Fritillaria Collection are exotic in appearance yet easy to cultivate and eager to naturalise in areas of moist, well-drained soil. Fritillaria meleagris like a spot in either sun or partial shade and both reach a height of 30cm whilst Fritillaria acmopetala is taller at 60cm and prefers full sun. All are suitable for meadows, borders and containers and act as a draw for pollinators whilst making excellent cut flowers too.
