Tell Me More...
Neat and clump forming, Euphorbia polychroma 'Bonfire' is aptly named as each narrow, blue-green leaf is flushed with flame-like purple shades, flushing to bright red in an autumnal show.Paradise yellow bract-like flowers are held in clusters from late spring throughout the summer. The unusual flowerheads rise on strong stems from amongst the foliage. Bold and vibrant, butterflies will visit to partake in the nectar, while deer and rabbits tend to leave alone. Both flowers and foliage make a long-lasting and colourful addition to flower arrangements when cut.Known also as Cushion Spurge, the handsome evergreen foliage gives year-round colour.Euphorbia polychroma 'Bonfire' is drought tolerant once mature, preferring to be grown in well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Reaching an overall mature height and spread of around 1m, 'Bonfire' is a hardy perennial with an RHS hardiness rating of H6, so will not need winter protection across the majority of the UK.
