Euphorbia amygdaloides var. robbiae, also known as Mrs Robbs Bonnet due to the plant hunter Mary-Anne Robb having to smuggle this specimen through customs in her hat!! This valuable, spreading perennial flourishes in one of those tricky areas with poor, dry soil in shade, perfect for those areas under large trees or shrubs. Euphorbia amygdaloides var. robbiae produce illuminating lime green sprays of flowers above dark glossy evergreen foliage from late spring to summer, enticing beneficial insects to join them. Spreading by underground runners, this hardy perennial, in time will produce a low weed suppressing carpet, however it may take over a small garden, so remove unwanted seedlings. Prefers well drained, dry soil in partial or full shade and grows to a height of up to 50cm and spread of up to 150cm. Holds an AGM award from the RHS for reliable garden performance. Always wear gloves when working with euphorbias as the milky sap is a skin irritant.
