Carmine blooms fade to shades of sugared almond pink, making unusual Escallonia 'Show Stopper' the new, must-have shrub for the garden and one which delivers the wow factor in spades.Glossy, evergreen foliage provides a handsome backdrop to clusters of fragrant flowers along the stems, blooming from June to October. Superb as hedging or as an individual specimen, this compact Escallonia offers multi-seasonal interest and a haven for pollinators when it is smothered with flowers. Hardy to -5 C, Escallonia thrives in full sun or part-shade, sheltered from the worst of the winter elements. Plant young shrubs in spring to allow them to establish well before winter. Grows well in all soil types which are fertile, moist, and well-drained.An excellent choice for mild coastal areas, with good tolerance of wind and salty air. Reaches a mature height of 1.2m and spread of up to 80cm wide. Lightly prune after flowering to maintain a neat shape and ensure a profusion of blooms next year.
